You can quickly download, configure, and license a new virtual LoadMaster. Select this option if you want to deploy a virtual LoadMaster in your environment.
You must have a pooled license attached to your Progress ID to use pooled licensing.
At present, LoadMaster 360 only supports perpetual LoadMaster licenses and pooled LoadMaster licensing. Service Provider License Agreement (SPLA) is not currently supported. If you try to license an SPLA LoadMaster using LoadMaster 360, you may get an Authentication failed error but this is because SPLA is not currently supported in LoadMaster 360.
- Go to Infrastructure > Device Inventory in LoadMaster 360.
- Click Add Device > LoadMaster.
- Click the Download & configure a new virtual LoadMaster section.
- Select the relevant Hypervisor.Note: If you select Azure, you must deploy the LoadMaster through the Azure Marketplace.Note: The LoadMaster deployment help & resources section provides contextual help links which change depending on the hypervisor selected.
- From the Release
version drop-down list, select the relevant firmware
version.Note:
- The Generally Available (GA) version includes the latest developed features for our LoadMaster product and is suitable for production environments.
- Long Term Support Feature (LTSF) is a software version that will include stable new features and feature enhancements from the GA release. Progress Kemp will also back-port security and major bug fixes.
- Click Next.
- Depending on the hypervisor selected, a LoadMaster deployment file might be auto-downloaded. There may also be link to manually start the download.
- A link to the XML Checksum verification file may be provided. Refer to the relevant Verifying XML Signatures Technical Note for instructions on how to validate the digital signatures of the download:
- You must deploy the LoadMaster and power it on before continuing. Refer to the relevant Installation Guide for instructions on how to do this:
- When the LoadMaster (or two LoadMasters in the case of a High Availability (HA pair)) is fully deployed and powered on, check the I have deployed and powered on the LoadMaster and am ready to continue check box.
- Click Next.
- Select the relevant Connector and click Next.
- Select the LoadMaster type - LoadMaster Single or High
Availability LoadMasters.Note: The High Availability LoadMasters option will only be displayed if you have the ability to add a High Availability pair (if you have pooled licensing enabled).
- If you select LoadMaster
Single, follow the below steps:
- Enter a name for the LoadMaster.Note: The only accepted characters for the LoadMaster name field are alphanumeric characters, dashes, underscores, and spaces.
- Select either Local or NAT.
- If you selected Local, enter the IPv4 address of the existing, unlicensed LoadMaster.
- If you selected NAT, enter the IPv4 address of the LoadMaster and the Public IPv4 address for LoadMaster.
- You can optionally specify a Port.Note: If you do not specify a port number, the default of port 443 is assumed.
When adding a LoadMaster that is deployed in Azure to LoadMaster 360, ensure to specify the port number, for example, 8443.
- If you selected NAT, you can optionally enter the Public IPv4 address for Connector.
- Enter a name for the LoadMaster.
- If you select High Availability
LoadMasters, follow the below steps:
- Enter a name for the LoadMaster HA pair.Note: The only accepted characters for the LoadMaster name field are alphanumeric characters, dashes, underscores, and spaces.
- Enter the Partner shared

When adding a LoadMaster that is deployed in Azure to LoadMaster 360, ensure to specify the port number, for example, 8443.
- Specify a HA virtual ID. For further details on the HA virtual ID, refer to this page: HA Parameters.
- Enter a name for the LoadMaster HA pair.

Next.Note: The Pooled license capacity section displays how much of the capacity (from the total amount available) is currently used. When you select a license, the Pooled license capacity section also shows how much additional capacity will be taken up by the new license being applied. If you are over capacity, the bar appears in red.Note: Perpetual and pooled licensing options are available in LoadMaster 360. A perpetual license may be a subscription, free LoadMaster, or trial LoadMaster.
- A number of setting changes are required on the LoadMaster to
ensure it can communicate successfully with LoadMaster 360. You can click the
changes link to review what changes
will be made. Select the I agree to make the
following changes to the LoadMaster check box to proceed with
the addition.Note: Do not undo these changes on the LoadMasters you want to manage through LoadMaster 360. Do not perform the following acts:
- Remove the Connector from the list of syslog hosts
(IP address)
- Change the port or settings in the Syslog Options (UDP on port 514 is required)
- Remove the local LoadMaster 360 user (for example, lm360_7e72f82b)
