Communication channels are vital for receiving email notifications when issues occur, ensuring that you stay informed and responsive to system incidents.
You can access the communications channels through two convenient methods:
- Hover over Incidents and select Communications channels from the drop-down list.
- Click the Communications channels option located in the top-right corner of the Incidents center page.
You can customize your notifications by establishing rules, which can be applied either globally across your system or on a per-asset basis. These rules empower you to define precise settings for notification schedules, including specific days, hours, and desired levels of severity (Critical or Warning).
Configuring a communications channel allows you to get email notifications when there are issues.
Existing channels are shown in the table. You can sort the entries by clicking the columns. You can specify what columns to show by clicking the Columns drop-down list. You can use the search box to narrow down the list. You can click Reset to clear the search.
- Click Add channel.
- Enter a Name for the channel.
- Enter an Email address for the channel.
- Click Rules.
- Click Add rule.Note: At least one rule is required when creating a communication channel.Note: There is a limit of 10 rules per communication channel.
- Enter a Name for the rule.
- Select what assets (sites, applications, and/or devices) you
want notifications in relation to.Note: After you click Select, the selected assets are shown on the add rule screen. Sites are shown in pink, applications in purple, and devices in green. You can click the x to the right of an asset to remove the asset from the rule.
- Select what Days you want the notifications to be sent on.
- Select what Hours you want the notifications to be sent on.
- Select the severity of the issues you want notifications to be sent for.
- Click Add rule.Note: Multiple rules can be added.
- Click Add channel.
- The initial Status of a
new communication channel is Awaiting
Validation. An email is sent to the email address specified when
creating the channel. Go to that email and click the link to activate the
communication channel.Note: The activation link is valid for 48 hours.
- After the channel is activated, you will start receiving notifications at the times specified in the rule (or rules) for the channel.
You can edit or delete an existing channel by selecting it and clicking the relevant button.
You can resend the validation email by selecting a channel and clicking Resend.
You can clone a communication channel by selecting it and clicking Clone.
You can use the options at the bottom to display more rows on the page or move between pages if there is more than one page.
