WS_FTP Toolbar Buttons

There are four toolbars that you can make visible or hide by using the View menu:

  • Standard
  • Quick Connect
  • Workspace
  • Modes

You can customize each toolbar by clicking on the down arrow button at the far right of the toolbar, you can quickly enable or disable toolbar buttons, or select Customize.

Individual buttons on these toolbars can be moved onto any of the other toolbars.

The following sections describe which buttons can appear on the toolbars of the WS_FTP interface.

Standard toolbar

  • Connect - Clicking the button displays the Site Manager; clicking the down arrow shows these menu items:
    • New Connection - Starts the Connection Wizard that you use to create a site and connect to it.
    • Site Manager - Lets you create, edit, and delete sites and connect to a site.
    • Sites list - lists all of the sites you have created.
  • Disconnect - Disconnects the selected view.
  • Connection Wizard - Displays the Connection Wizard, which steps through creating a new connection.
  • New Local View - Creates a new local view connection.
  • Views - Click to choose the directory display type you want to use (affects both the local and remote file list):
    • Large Icons - Changes the layout of the list pane to show file names along with large icons associated with the file type.
    • Small Icons - Changes the layout of the list pane to show file names along with small icons associated with the file type.
    • List - Changes the layout of the list pane to show an ordered list of files in a selected directory.
    • Detail - Changes the layout of the list pane to show an ordered list of files with the name, size, type, time of last modification, and attributes listed.
    • Thumbnails - Changes the layout of the list pane to show a list of thumbnail images for graphics in the directory.
  • Options - Displays the Program Options dialog.
  • Edit Manager - Displays the Edit Manager.
  • Send to Scheduler - Allows you to schedule a transfer of the selected files or folders. (Professional version)
  • Transfer Shortcut - Uses the selected items to create a transfer shortcut. The transfer shortcut will transfer the selected file in one pane to the folder in the other pane each time it is executed.
  • Local Search - Opens a Search tab in the local files pane.
  • Backup Files - Launches the Backup Files Utility.
  • Sync Files - Launches the Synchronize Utility.
  • Link Folders Mode - Toggles Link Folder Mode for the selected connections.
  • Find Utility - Launches the Find Utility.
  • Scheduler Utility - Launches the Scheduler Utility.
  • Script Utility - Launches the Script Utility.
  • Help Topics - Launches the WS_FTP Help system.
  • Tutorials - Launches the WS_FTP tutorials web page.
  • About - Displays the WS_FTP about dialog.

Quick Connect toolbar

  • Address - Displays the Address entry box, where you can enter an FTP address.
  • Connection Type - Displays the connection type drop-down menu.
  • User ID - Displays the User ID entry box, where you can enter the user name for your FTP account.
  • Password - Displays the Password entry box.
  • Port - Displays the Port entry box.
  • Connect to URL -Displays the button that lets you connect using the specified Address and User ID.
  • Reset - Set the toolbar to the original default display.

Workspace toolbar (Professional only)

  • Workspace - Displays a drop-down that lists existing workspaces.
  • Manager - Opens the Workspace Manager, which lets you add, edit, and delete workspaces.
  • Add - Lets you click to add the current set of local and remote connections as a workspace.
  • Save - Lets you save any changes to the current workspace.
  • Close - Closes the current workspace.
  • Reset - Set the toolbar to the original default display.

Modes toolbar (Professional only)

  • Batch Mode - Toggles Batch Mode for the active remote connection.
  • Multipart Mode - Toggles Multipart Mode for the active remote connection.
  • OpenPGP Mode - Toggles OpenPGP mode for the active remote connection.
  • Append Mode - Toggles Append mode for the active remote connection.
  • Compression Mode - Toggles Compression Mode for the active remote connection.
  • Reset - Set the toolbar to the original default display.
