How to get to the Program Options Dialog
- E-mail address - Most FTP sites support anonymous logins which allow individuals without an account on the FTP site to log onto the site and transfer files. However, even FTP sites that allow anonymous logins still require a user ID and password; for most anonymous logins, the user ID is the word "anonymous" and the password is an e-mail address. See also Notes about Passwords .
- Text Viewer - This specifies the program that WS_FTP calls when you want to view a text file. If the file you want to view is on an FTP site , WS_FTP first transfers the file to the Temp folder in your Windows directory before opening it in the text viewer.
- Auto reconnect - This option controls how WS_FTP will operate when the application is started.
- Open Blank Workspace - Starts WS_FTP with a blank workspace.
- Open With Connection Dialog - Displays the Site Manager when the application starts.
- Open Last Local and Remote Folders - Automatically connects to the last local and remote folders when the application starts.
- Connect to Default Site - Automatically connects to the default site when the application starts.
- Sounds - Select what type of sound, if any, you would like
WS_FTP to use.
- None - When this option is selected, WS_FTP will use no sounds.
- Beep - When this option is selected, WS_FTP will use a system beep.
- Wave - Uses .wav files defined on the Windows Control Panel.
- Allow Deletion of non-empty folders - If selected, you will be able to delete folders that contain files or other folders.
- Allow files and folders to be moved - Select this option to be able to move files. When a file is moved, the file is actually moved from one site to another, deleting the file in its original position.
- Save password in Quick Connection Bar - If selected, passwords entered in the Quick Connect Bar are saved.
- Clear Quick Connect history on application exit - If selected, the Quick Connect history is cleared when you close WS_FTP.
- Show transfer information in the splash screen - If selected, the transfer information is shown in the splash screen that displays for a few seconds when you start WS_FTP. You can clear this option to make the splash screen exit quickly.
- Clear Now - Click to clear the Quick Connect history manually.
- Desktop Search Technology - Use these search options to search for files and file content on your local drive. To start the local desktop search, click Tools > Find > Local Files. For more information, see Using the Search Utility (local search).
- Copernic Desktop Search (WS_FTP Professional only) - If you have the Copernic Desktop Search utility installed, you can search for file content using the Copernic Desktop Search engine.
- Google Desktop Search (WS_FTP Professional only) - If you have the Google Desktop Search utility installed, you can search for file content using the Google Desktop Search engine.
- Local Desktop Search (Windows search) - This search option does not require pre-installed search utilities, such as Copernic or Google. You can search based on a single criteria or click Options and enter multiple search options criteria. For more information, see Using Search Options.
