Building a list of files for transfer (Batch Mode) (WS_FTP Professional)

When transferring multiple files, you may find it easier to first build a list of files for transfer, then process the transfer. When Batch Mode is active, you can browse folders and add files to the batch list. You can review the list, make any changes, and then upload or download the entire list.

To transfer files and folders using Batch Mode:

  1. Connect to a site.
  2. Select Tools > Batch Mode to start Batch Mode.
  3. Select a file or folder and click the transfer arrow, the item will be placed in the Transfer Manager. You can also drag-and-drop files, subject to the following conditions:
    • If you drag-and-drop a file to a location inside the application, the file is added to the batch.
    • If you drag-and-drop a file to a location outside the application, then the file will immediately transfer; the file will not be added to the batch.
  4. Once you have added all of the items to the 'batch,' you can review the list and proceed as follows:
    • To view the list of files for transfer, in the Transfer Manager, select the file name and click the plus sign (+) to expand the list.
    • To transfer the entire list, right-click the top-level file (in the Transfer Manager) and click Start.
    • To remove a file from the Transfer Manager, right-click the file, then select Delete.
  5. Select Tools > Batch Mode to take WS_FTP out of batch mode. WS_FTP will then prompt you to start the transfer. If you decline to start it at that time, you can start it later by clicking the start button in the Transfer Manager.
