Connecting to a WS_FTP Server
WS_FTP Server provides easy-to-use, secure FTP, SSH, and HTTPS file transfer.
When used with WS_FTP Server, WS_FTP Professional provides:
- File integrity
Guarantees that the file uploaded and the file downloaded are identical.
- Encryption of client-server connections with 256-bit AES encryption.
- FIPS 140-2 validated cryptography for both client and server.
- Secure login
Provides encrypted login credentials between client and server, even over unencrypted FTP.
To connect to WS_FTP Server:
- In the Connections menu, select New Connection.
- Follow the directions in the Connection Wizard to set the Site name, Connection type, Server address, User name and password.
- On the last screen of the wizard (the Finish screen), click Advanced. The Site Options dialog opens.
- In the left pane, select Advanced. The Advanced options page opens.

- For Server type, check with the WS_FTP Server administrator to see which type is implemented.
- For Host type, select WS_FTP Server, then click OK.
- On the Finish screen, make sure Connect to this site is selected, then click Finish. WS_FTP connects to the site and displays the user home folder.
