How to get to the Site Options Dialog

Startup options:

  • Local Startup Folder - If there is a folder on the local computer that you want to always open when you connect to this FTP site, enter the path of the folder here. This folder will only open when the site is open directly; if the site is opened as part of a workspace, this option is ignored.
  • Remote Site Folder - If there is a folder on the FTP site that you want to use as your starting location when you connect to this FTP site, enter the path of the folder here.
  • Initialize Command - If you know of commands that need to be issued to the FTP site when you connect , enter them here. For example, the command SITE UMASK 022 changes the UMASK used when creating files on a UNIX system. Separate multiple commands with a semi-colon.
  • Disable the FEAT command - Enable this option to stop WS_FTP from sending the FEAT command when connecting to this site. When an FTP client sends the FEAT command, the server is expected to reply with the features that it supports (such as integrity checking, hashing, and resume transfer). This option can be used when a firewall does not allow the FEAT command and disconnects when the command is received.
  • Remote file mask and Local file mask - You can enter a file extension here to limit the display of files and folders to just one particular type. For example, you can *.zip to show only ZIP files. Remote file mask is used for files and folders on the server; Local file mask is used for files and folders on the local computer.
  • Tab Color - Select the color you want this connection's tabs to appear, or one of the following options:
  • Random Color - Changes the color of the tab to a randomly chosen color.
  • Default Color - Changes the color of the tab to the color specified in the Program Options: Display dialog.
  • Pick a Color - Opens a color dialog that allows you to select a Windows color to blend a custom color.
  • Startup Transfer Mode - Select the transfer mode that you would like to use as the default for this site or folder. For more information, see Specifying the Startup Transfer Mode.
  • Time offset in hours - There is no standard for specification of date/time on FTP sites, but often it is displayed in GMT. If the time zone of the FTP site is different from yours, you can enter a number of hours to add to the file date and times to convert them to your local date and time. Use a positive number to add, or a negative number to subtract.
  • Attempt to auto- discover time offset - Select to have WS_FTP attempt to determine the time offset for this connection automatically. It does this by uploading a small file to the Read/Write directory and comparing its create time to the time on your local computer. It then deletes the small file, so no permanent changes are made on the remote server.
  • Read/Write directory - Enter the path of the directory you want WS_FTP to use when attempting to calculate time offset automatically.
