Program Options: Transfers

How to get to the Program Options Dialog

The Transfers tab contains options that will be used when WS_FTP attempts to transfer file.

  • Number of retries for failed transfers - Number of times WS_FTP will attempt to try to make a transfer once the first attempt fails.
  • Delay between retries (seconds) - Number of seconds WS_FTP will wait before retrying a failed transfer.
  • Maximum number of concurrent transfers - If you would like WS_FTP to create a new connection for transfers, enter the maximum number of additional connections you would like to have created. This number controls the maximum number for all sites.
  • Number of parts used on multipart transfers - When in multipart mode, WS_FTP will divide large files into the number of parts entered here. If this number is higher than the number of connections allowed to a server, the largest number possible will be used to perform the transfer.
  • File Overwrite Prompt
    • Don't prompt for overwrite (always overwrite) - Select this option to have WS_FTP overwrite all files when you attempt to transfer to a destination where a file with the same name exists.
    • Prompt for overwrite if file exists - Select this option to have WS_FTP prompt before it overwrites a file when you attempt to transfer to a destination where a file with the same name exists.
    • Prompt for overwrite for same or new files only -Select this option to have WS_FTP ask if you want to overwrite a file when you attempt to transfer a file to a destination where there is the same or newer version (by date and time). Note that this feature will not work with some FTP sites.
  • Automatically resume transfers when application starts - Select this option to have WS_FTP attempt to transfer all files listed on the Transfers tab of the Transfer Manager that are in the failed state.
  • Don't transfer older/same files when transferring folders - When you transfer a folder, files within that folder will not overwrite files that have the same or a newer date stamp.
  • Display the Transfer Manager when transfers start - Select this option to have the Transfer Manager appear each time you attempt a transfer through WS_FTP. Clear this option to have the Transfer Manager appear only when you view it manually. Note: This replaces the Transfer Progress dialog from previous versions.
  • Allow browsing while transferring - Select this option to enable browsing file directories for the active remote site.
Note: If the Maximum transfer connections value in the Site Options > Transfer dialog is set to 0, this option is ignored and you cannot browse a remote site directory while files are transferring.
  • Request Status Colors - Select colors for WS_FTP to use when displaying successful and failed status messages.
