The Systems Settings menu provides access to a number of configuration options you can use to customize specific areas within your WhatsUp Gold setup.
- Alert Center Data Retention. Specify how long Alert Center should keep both Log Data and Item Data in number of days and/or hours.

Default Email Settings. Specify an recipient address, sender address, and
SMTP server to be used by WhatsUp Gold when generating notifications. This dialog
also allows you to specify a port number for email traffic and timeout in seconds,
as well as enable and configure encryption and authentication.
Important: Please see Configuring a REST API credential for sending emails using OAuth2.0 authentication for additional information and instructions when enabling this option.
- External Authentication. Configure WhatsUp Gold user authentication using existing Active Directory/LDAP settings, Cisco ACS settings, and OpenID settings.
- General Settings. Enable individual WhatsUp Gold features and functionality including Auto-Login, choose your interface display name preference, specify data rollup and expiration timeframes for monitor data, enable WMI Authentication Protocol, and set passwords required for using JMX monitors and application components.
- Passive Monitor Listeners. Configure the following
behavior:
- SNMP Traps. Enable listening for messages, specify the port number on which WhatsUp Gold should listen for messages, allow acceptance of unsolicited SNMP traps, allow forwarding of SNMP traps, allow forwarding of unsolicted SNMP traps, and specify specific IP Addresses/Hostnames and corresponding ports for which to listen for messages.
- Syslog Settings. Enable listening for messages, specify the port number on which WhatsUp Gold should listen for messages, and allow acceptance of unsolicited Syslog messages. Please note, this feature is resource-intensive and should not be enabled for extended periods of time.
- Windows Event Log Settings. Enable listener, specify the time interval at which WhatsUp Gold should check for connections, and indicate if payloads should be generated.
- Polling Configurations. Manage configuration settings applicable to the local poller as well as poller applications installed on remote devices. Please refer to Configuring Scalability Pollers in WhatsUp Gold for additional information about using the WhatsUp Gold Polling Configuriation user interface.
- SNMP MIB Manager. Manage MIB files imported into or existing in WhatsUp Gold. Please refer to Import MIB Definitions for additional information about using the WhatsUp Gold SNMP MIB Manager user interface.
