When triggered, this action generates a custom notification message, or adaptive card, in MS Teams for a specific team previously configured within the application. The resulting MS Teams notification can be configured to include a button or link which when clicked launches WhatsUp Gold displaying the device/monitor which triggered the action.

To generate a new Incoming Webhook connector for use with the Post To MS Teams action:

  1. Launch the Teams application.
  2. Click the settings icon (...) found to the right of the team name for which you'd like to create the action.
  3. Select Connectors from the options displayed.
  4. Locate the Incoming Webhook connector, then click Configure to launch the webhook configuration dialog.
  5. Enter a name for the new Incoming Webhook in the field provided.
    Note: You can also choose to upload a custom image to associate with the data from the new Incoming Webhook.
  6. Click Create.
  7. Copy the new webhook URL displayed in the configuration dialog.
    Important: This URL is required to successfully configure a Post To MS Teams action in WhatsUp Gold as described in the next set of procedure steps.
  8. Click Done.

To configure a new Post To MS Teams action:

  1. Select Actions & Alerts > Actions and Policies from the SETTINGS main menu option to launch the Actions and Policies library.
  2. Click the Add icon (), select Post to MS Teams from the options displayed, then click Select to launch the Add Post to MS Teams Action configuration dialog.
  3. Configure the following:
    1. Name. Enter a unique name for the action. This name displays in the Actions Library.
    2. Description. Enter a short description about the action. This description displays next to the action in the Actions Library.
    3. Webhook URL. Enter/Paste the URL of the Incoming Webhook created using the Connectors for the applicable MS Teams channel.
      Important: This is the URL generated by MS Teams and copied from the Incoming Webhook configuration dialog as described in the previous set of procedure steps.

Active and Passive Monitors

Configure the following:

  • MS Teams message (JSON). Enter the JSON object for the message to appear within the resulting MS Teams adaptive card. Click Use examples to begin with one of the JSON object templates provided. Additionally, you can use the System, Device, and/or Monitor dropdown menus within the dialog to automatically insert supported variables in to the MS Teams message field. For additional information about setting up the JSON object, please refer to the applicable Microsoft support documentation.

Alert Center

Configure the following:

  • MS Teams message (JSON). Enter the JSON object for the message to appear within the resulting MS Teams adaptive card. You can use the Alert Center dropdown menu within the dialog to automatically insert supported Alert Center percent variables in to the message field.
