To configure the AWS Cloudwatch Performance monitor to specifically track Amazon billing:

  1. Enter a unique name for the monitor. This name displays in the Performance Monitor Library.
  2. Enter additional information for the monitor in the Description field.
  3. Click Edit to begin selecting specific metrics to monitor.
  4. Select your AWS credentials from the drop-down menu, then click OK.
  5. Select your geographic Region.
  6. Select Billing as the AWS Namespace.
  7. Select Estimated Charges as the Metric.
  8. Select the Statistic that best fits your billing monitor requirements.
  9. Choose an instance set from the list of Available instance sets under Choose Instance. Individual instances in the specified set from which to select for monitoring appear below.
  10. Select an Instance to monitor. Once loaded, you can click Load data to preview available instance data.
  11. Click Select to return to the performance monitor configuration dialog.
  12. Click Save.
