Create an alerting and notification schedule that aligns threshold events and notifications with levels of responsibility and site escalation policies.
To create an Alert Center notification policy:
- Select Actions & Alerts > Alert Center Libraries from the SETTINGS menu to launch the Alert Center Libraries interface.
- Click the Notification Policies tab.
- Click the Add icon to launch the Add Alert Center Notification Policy dialog.
- Enter a Name and Description for the new notification policy in the entry fields provided.
- Click the Add icon, then select Step 1 from the drop-down menu that appears. This launches the Add Notification Policy - Step 1 dialog.
- Select the checkbox to the left of the notification action that should be triggered first. You can also select a blackout policy to apply to Step 1 using the corresponding drop-down menu at right, if desired. Please note, the individual notification actions and blackout policies available for selection in this dialog are created and configured in the Actions Library and the Blackout Policies Alert Center Library, respectively.
- In the Escalation section of the dialog, use the controls provided to specify when the action should be triggered.
- Click OK to return to the initial Add Alert Center Notification Policy dialog.
- Repeat the previous steps to create Step 2 and Step 3, if desired.
- If you would like to be automatically notified when any item that initially triggered the notification goes back in-threshold, click the Add icon, then select Auto-resolve from the drop-down menu that appears. Select a notification action and, a blackout policy if applicable, just as you did for the other notification policy escalation steps previously. Please note, it may be beneficial to create a dedicated notification action reserved for Auto-resolve use. Click OK to return to the initial Add Alert Center Notification Policy dialog.
- Click Save.
