Service monitors determine if a service is running and issues state changes for the device, as needed.

Provide a unique name and description for the monitor, then configure the following:

  1. Enable Use in Rescan and/or Restart on failure, if desired.
  2. Select either WMI or SNMP as the Protocol to use to connect to the selected device.
  3. Click Browse to launch the Service Selection dialog.
  4. Browse to, then select a target device and assigned credential using the applicable drop-down menus.
  5. Select a service or services using the applicable checkbox(es) to the left of the service Display Name(s). Please note, you can quickly identify a service using the Search field provided.
  6. Click Save to return to the monitor configuration dialog.
  7. Click Save.
Note: If multiple services are selected, WhatsUp Gold creates multiple monitors, using the following format: [User-given name] - [Service Name]. However, if a single service is selected, WhatsUp Gold creates a single monitor with the specified user-defined Name.
