BIOS report reveals provides a view of the hardware operating system information for the Windows systems that WhatsUp Gold discovers on the network.

Understand column data

The default view of each report contains a grid with the following columns:

  • Device. Device hostname, IP address, or custom label.

  • IP Address. Device primary IP address.
  • BIOS Name. Name of the BIOS manufacturer.
  • BIOS Description. Additional BIOS manufacturer description information.
  • Serial Number. Device serial number.

Click a column heading ( ) to display the column selection listing . You can also include:

    • Description. Manufacturer's description.
    • Category. Assigned category based on functional characteristics uncovered during discovery.
    • Host Name. Hostname of the device (if available/defined).
    • Device Role. Primary role of device.
    • Contact. Contact information/responsible individual associated with this device.
    • Location. Location information associated with this device (building, floor, and rack, for example)
    • Brand. Brand of the device.
    • OS Role. Operating system role delegated by Discovery (given the information available).
  • Caption. Short description of the BIOS.
  • Release Date. BIOS release date information.
  • Manufacturer. Manufacturer of this software element.
Tip: Results data displayed by this report are as fresh as the last device rescan/refresh. To ensure the most up-to-date information per device is reported here, you should Rescan/Refresh or rediscover. (If information is incomplete or lacks detail, ensure you applied the necessary layering of credentials to your discovery scan.)

Generate a report

Choose Device. Choose one or more host devices you want DEVICE-ONLY measurements for.

Choose, filter, and reorder columns. Choose and hide columns, reorder columns, and customize your data view.

Note: This report only returns DEVICE-ONLY metrics for devices that already have the appropriate credentials. For more information, see Using Credentials.
Note: WMI credentials must be applied to each Windows host device for which you want to collect software inventory, operating system inventory, BIOS inventory, and warranty inventory information.
  • Export report data

    Report data can be exported from WhatsUp Gold, reused, and distributed in multiple formats. Select Expand () from the Dashboard Options () menu. After the report has been expanded, select the Export Data icon to access the following options:

    • HTML. Generate and download a .htm file presenting your report data as it appears in the WhatsUp Gold user interface.
    • Excel. Generate and download a .xml spreadsheet containing your report data.
    • CSV. Generate and download a .csv file containing your report data.
    • Text. Generate and download a .txt file containing your report data.
    • Schedule Export. Set a recurring date and time, format, and email destination for report data export.
