After you configure an active monitor in the Active Monitor Library, you must add it to the individual devices for which you want to monitor services.
Keep in mind that when you assign an active monitor to a device, an instance of the monitor is added to the device. Changes that you make to the monitor configuration via the Monitor Library affect all instances of the monitor. For example, if you assign a monitor to four separate devices and then make changes to the monitor from the Monitor Library, all four instances of the monitor adopt the changes.
If you are assigning an active monitor to a device that uses WMI (Windows) or SNMP credentials, before assigning an active monitor, make sure that the device has the proper credentials assigned. For more information, see Using the Credentials Library.
There are several of ways to assign active monitors to devices. You can add the active monitor to the device from the Device Properties page, and you can the monitor to multiple devices at one time using the Bulk Action feature.
