To deploy a VMware connector in WhatsUp Gold 360, follow these steps:

  1. Extract the files from the .zip folder generated by WhatsUp Gold 360.
  2. Launch vSphere.
  3. Right-click the parent object for your VMware connector, then select Deploy OVF Template to launch Deploy OVF Template interface.
  4. On the Select an OVF template tab, select Local File, then click Upload Files.
  5. Browse to the location where you extracted the connector files, select both the .OVF and .VMDK files, then click Next.
  6. On the Select a name and folder tab, enter a name for the virtual machine, select its deployment location within your virtual environment, then click Next.
  7. On the Select a compute resource tab, choose a resource that you want to use to run the connector, then click Next.
  8. On the Review details tab, ensure the template details displayed are correct, then click Next.
  9. On the Select storage tab, select a datastore to store the template, configure any other applicable storage settings, as needed, then click Next.
  10. On the Select networks tab, choose a source network, map it to a destination network, then click Next.
  11. On the Ready to complete page, review the information displayed, then click Finish to deploy the connector. It will appear in the left panel of the vSphere user interface.
  12. Open the connector and power it on.

At this point, WhatsUp Gold 360 attempts to connect to the site using the connector. This may take several minutes. During this time, you can see the current connection details by opening a browser tab, then navigating to the URL containing the IP address of the new connector as shown here to launch a detailed status report. If the process is successful, the connector status displays as Reachable, and it begins to collect data.
