REPORTS > Audit

Audit reports include information about commands and configuration changes in MOVEit Automation. They allow administrators to track who performed an action, when it occurred, and which object was affected.

In addition to this high‑level audit information, the Audit report can display configuration change details, showing exactly which values changed when a configuration item was modified.

Items that appear in the list depend on how you accessed the Audit page.

How did you access the Audit page?

The Audit page contains

From the Hosts page

Audit events related only to the selected host.

From the Task List page

Audit events related only to the selected task.

From the Task List page with filters

Audit events for all filtered tasks.

From the Scripts page

Audit events related only to the selected script.

Filtering and limiting audit results

Task List filtering

Filters applied on the Task List page are automatically applied to the Task Run, File Activity, and Audit pages. You can remove or edit the applied filters.

Limit result entries

You can select the number of report entries to list from the Limit result entries to drop-down list. The selected value is stored in the browser local storage. The default is 100 entries.

View configuration differences

When a configuration change includes field‑level updates, a View differences icon appears in the audit record. The View differences icon appears only for audit records that include configuration changes.

To view a comparison between previous values (highlighted in red) and current values (highlighted in green), click the icon.

The difference view includes changes to configuration fields such as:
  • Task properties, including name and destination settings
  • Host properties, including name, address, and credentials

For information about setting the configuration change history, see Audit Log Settings.

Sensitive values in audit differences

Certain configuration values are treated as sensitive and are never displayed in clear text in the Audit report. This includes passwords, secrets, and script source content.

When a sensitive value changes, the Audit report records that a change occurred without revealing the underlying value. Passwords and secrets are represented using a placeholder, such as *****. Script source content is treated as non-sensitive by default.

For information about setting the configuration change history for scripts, see Audit Log Settings.
