As an OpenEdge Database Administrator, you want to ensure that only authorized users connect to a database, as well as prevent unauthorized users from modifying or removing database files and objects.
For more information about the security features of OpenEdge, see Learn about Security and Auditing. For more information about establishing a user identity, see Learn about Identity Management.
CAUTION: Before changing your database's security
implementation, make a backup of the original database. This way
you can restore the original database if you cannot undo some of
the security measures you set. For example, if you are the sole
security administrator and you forget your user ID or password, you
might be denied access to the database and the data contained in
it. However, if you have a backup of the original database, you
can restore it. To prevent such a mishap, designate at least two
security administrators for each database.
