Using the ODBC Administrator

The first step in setting up an ODBC connection is creating an ODBC data source. The ODBC Administrator is installed automatically when you install the ODBC Client on Windows. You use the ODBC Administrator to create and manage ODBC data sources.

To start the ODBC Administrator, select the icon from the DataDirect program group.

Note: For a 64-bit machine, when you install a 64-bit OpenAccess SDK 8.1.0 Client for ODBC, the shortcut for the ODBC Administrator points to the 64-bit version. When you install a 32-bit OpenAccess SDK 8.1 Client for ODBC, the shortcut for the ODBC Administrator points to the 32-bit version.

For a 32-bit machine, the shortcut for the ODBC Administrator points to the 32-bit version.
