You can create a new dashboard by clicking the + button in the upper menu. To display the widgets, at least one dashboard has to be created.

Create dashboard

You can create a new, blank dashboard or create a dashboard from the list of templates. When creating the dashboard, you specify a name and a refresh rate (how often the widget data gets refreshed). You can also set either a role or a user to share the dashboard with in the Share dashboard section. For shared dashboards, you can enable the Can edit check box to allow roles or users to make changes in the dashboard.

Template dashboards

You can either create an empty dashboard or create a ready-to-use dashboard from the list of templates (the list reflects installed modules and also dashboards shared as templates from other users within the same tenant). When creating a new dashboard from the template, the widgets are automatically created and the user can adjust their settings, remove them, add other widgets or customize their position on the dashboard. Users must have permissions for adding dashboards to templates. Templates include:

  • Templates from Flowmon:

    • Status dashboard – a top-level dashboard that combines information from the Monitoring Center, Flowmon ADS, and Flowmon APM.

    • NetOps dashboard – creates a dashboard with widgets focused on Network Operations use cases.

    • SecOps dashboard – creates a dashboard with widgets focused on Security Operations use cases (this requires the Flowmon ADS module).

    • Applications dashboard - creates a dashboard with widgets focused on Application Performance Monitoring (this requires the Flowmon APM module).

  • Templates from users - creates a dashboard that was set as a template by other users.

Edit dashboards

Dashboards can be edited by clicking on the Settings button in the upper menu.

You can use the settings on the Dashboards screen to manage dashboard tabs and their settings. It is possible to re-order the dashboards (only in the My dashboards section), edit a dashboard, delete a dashboard, or create a new one. The Create new report option converts a dashboard tab into a report. A pre-filled form for the creation of reports appears. The name and chapters are pre-filled. An example form is available in the Reports section.

There are two sections of dashboards - My dashboards and Hidden dashboards. The hidden section is used for dashboards which we do not want to see among the tabs. This feature is handy especially when someone shares a dashboard with a user who does not want to use the shared dashboard. Switch between My dashboards and Hidden dashboards can be done both using the menu and dragging and dropping.

A dashboard status shows the sharing information:

  • Private (just you)

  • Shared (shared with other roles or users)

  • Shared with me (another user shared the dashboard with you)

When editing a dashboard, it can be added to templates. It will appear in the list of template dashboards for the other users and they can create a copy of the dashboard and its widgets and customize it for themselves.

Global Time Interval

The upper part of the page includes a list box that allows you to change the time interval for all widgets in the dashboards. The time interval is set to the last day by default. The selected interval is applied to all widgets in the dashboard unless the widget has its own interval settings.
