Note: You must have administrator privileges to install OpenAccess SDK Server and IP SDK on a Windows server. See OpenAccess SDK Server and IP SDK for requirements to build an application.

The OpenAccess SDK Server and IP SDK installer on the supported Windows platforms requires the Microsoft Windows Installer service. If the installer detects that the service is not installed on your machine, or that an older version is installed, a message is displayed. After installing the Microsoft Windows Installer service, you might need to restart your machine. Then, you can install OpenAccess SDK Server.

To start the installer:

  • If you have one OpenAccess SDK Server installed and you are replacing it, perform the following actions before you start the installer:

    • Make sure that the installation directory is empty.

    • Check that the %TEMP% directory does not contain OpenAccess SDK files such as oadm.ini.

    • Kill any OpenAccess SDK processes that are still running.

    • Make sure that the OpenAccess SDK ports have been removed from the etc/services file.

    • Use unique service names.

Note: If you have more than one OpenAccess SDK Server installed, call Technical Support for instructions on uninstalling the OpenAccess SDK Server that you want to replace.

  • If you are installing from files downloaded from the Web, follow the instructions on the Progress DataDirect Web site to download the appropriate installation file:

    • oaserver32_win_version_setup.exe for 32-bit environments

    • oaserver64_win_version_setup.exe for 64-bit environments

where version is the version number of the release. Then, double-click the installation file.

Important: On Windows, when User Access Control (UAC) is enabled, right-click the installation file and choose "Run as Administrator".
