The Scan Results report displays the results of a single discovery scan as well as specific information about the devices found during that scan. Information displayed includes device name, IP Address, assigned role, operating system, brand, credential types, and discovery status.

You can easily locate specific devices within the scan results data using the Search field in the upper-right corner of the report dialog. Scan results data are filtered as you search.

Click on any line item in the Scan Results report to launch a device details dialog at the right side of the user interface. This dialog displays key device details organized in five distinct expandable/collapsible sections:

  • The General section displays the device name, IP address, assigned role(s), brand, vendor, and other identifying information, if applicable.
  • The Credentials section displays the credential sets attempted/used to discover and identify the device.
  • The More Device Information section displays additional information retrieved from the device during discovery, including the data collection time and model, whether the device is monitored, the monitored address, any applications on the device, and more.
  • The Match Summary section displays information about how the device was discovered, comparing it to the parameters used in the discovery scan. This includes the match reason, selection type, and key, confidence level, and any applicable IP and/or MAC address statistics.
  • The Destination Device section displays the final results of the device discovery in comparison to the identifying information shown in the Match Summary.

During discovery, if the confidence level in the match is not ideal, a hyperlink labeled Show Merge Log appears at the bottom of the Match Summary. Click this link to access the Merge Information dialog which displays the specific device identifiers used to determine the individual device as well as the reason for the match. If you would like to add the device to the list of IP/MAC Address Exceptions to be considered by WhatsUp Gold discovery going forward, select the checkbox to the left of the line item, then click Add to Address Exceptions. Please see Handling Shared Addresses for additional information.

Important: Please note, the device-specific Scan Results dialog described here is different than the device information card accessed from the Discovered Network and My Network map and list views.
