• Name. Enter a unique name for the performance monitor. The name appears in the monitors library as well as device properties, performance views, alerts, and reports.
  • Description. Enter a short description for the performance monitor. This description displays next to the performance monitor in the Monitor Library and should further explain the purpose of the monitor. Please note, this description is intended for administrative reference and does not affect monitoring behavior.
  • SNMP timeout. Enter the length of time in seconds in which a connection with the device should be attempted before the request is considered to have failed. Increase this value if the monitored device is slow to respond or if the network connection has high latency.
  • Number of SNMP retries. Enter the number of times WhatsUp Gold resends an SNMP request if no response is received within the configured timeout. Please note, retries can help compensate for transient network issues but may increase polling time.
  • Polling interval. Specify how frequently WhatsUp Gold fetches data from the device.
  • Plot raw values / Plot rate of change. Select Plot raw values to display the actual value returned by the SNMP table column at each poll interval. Select Plot rate of change to display the difference between successive polls over time. The first option is useful for gauges, totals, or current-state values while the second is better for data points that continuously increase, such as byte or packet counters.
  • Monitoring Conditions. For each condition, click the globe icon to launch the MIB Browser, then use the controls provided to select an Object ID to represent. Please note, selected Object IDs must be a standard numerical value to avoid data collection and reporting errors.
    • Value to collect. The selected Object ID should be the exact SNMP metric to retrieve for each matching table instance.
    • Instance label (Optional). The selected Object ID should be used to identify individual data series in charts and reports.
  • Collection Filter (Optional). Populate the following fields to limit which rows of the SNMP table are included in monitoring:
    • ObjectID. Specify the ObjectID to be evaluated for each table row to determine whether that row should be included or excluded.
    • Operator. Specify how the filter compares the ObjectID value to the specified criteria. Available operators depend on the data type.
    • Collection filter. Specify if the table rows that meet the filter criteria are collected or excluded.
  • Report options (Optional):
    • Report label. Enter a label to be used on the report.
    • Unit of measurement. Enter the unit associated with the collected values.
