This section shows how to set up deployment modes in the distributed architecture of Flowmon Collector. Take a look at the Distributed Architecture Overview and Flowmon User Guide (available directly in the Flowmon interface) to learn more about distributed architecture. The guide also shows how to deploy Flowmon modules on the distributed architecture of Flowmon Collector.
Common Steps for all Deployment Modes
Step 1: Install Flowmon on all units (details in Quickstart Guides and Readme). Refer to the Flowmon Virtual Appliances document for installation instructions.
Step 2: Upload a suitable License file on the Master Unit(s) (and Proxy Unit(s) if used) in their respective Flowmon Configuration Center (FCC) > License.
Step 3: On the Master Unit that will be used as a Top Priority Master Unit (TPM), go to Flowmon Configuration Center (FCC) > Distributed Architecture, check both distributed architecture and top priority master unit checkboxes, and click Save Settings.
Warning: Enabling Distributed Architecture removes all data on this Flowmon appliance.
Step 4: Create a new source group on TPM.
Step 5: On the Slave Unit(s) (and Proxy Unit(s) if used) go to Flowmon Configuration Center (FCC) > Distributed Architecture, check the distributed architecture check box and click Save Settings. This enables you to manage units centrally from the TPM interface.
Warning: Enabling Distributed Architecture removes all data on this Flowmon appliance.
Step 6: On TPM (FCC > Distributed Architecture), below the table of unassigned units, click New Unit. Fill in the form and set the Role for each unit.
For Master - Slave Deployment Mode, set the Role of the Slave Units as Standalone slave.
For Master - Proxy - Slave Deployment Mode add Proxy Units and set the role of the Slave Units as Slave.
Add other Master Units, if any.
