Installing the ADO Client on Windows

Follow the download instructions on the Progress DataDirect Web site to download the installation file, to a directory on your local machine.

oaado32_win_version_setup.exe on a 32-bit machine

oaado64_win_version_setup.exe on a 64-bit machine
where version is the OpenAccess SDK version number.

Navigate to the directory you defined in Step 1 and double-click the installation file.
Important: On Windows, when the User Access Control (UAC) is enabled, right-click the installation file and choose "Run as Administrator".

When the Welcome window appears, click Next to continue. The License Agreement window appears.

On the License Agreement window, perform one of the following actions:
- Accept the agreement by clicking the appropriate option. Then, click Next. The Custom Setup window appears.
- Do not accept the agreement by clicking Cancel to exit the installation.

The Custom Setup window allows you choose specific installation options.

a. Click one or multiple component icons to select the components to install. When you select a component, a description of the component appears in the Feature Description box.
b. To change the installation directory, click Change. A window appears allowing you to browse and select an installation directory.When you are satisfied with your settings, click Next.

Click Next. The Add Data Source directory appears allowing you to browse and select a directory to store configurations of ADO data sources. To change the installation directory, click Change.

The Ready to Install the Program window allows you to go back and review your choices before proceeding. If you are ready to install, click Install.
The InstallShield Wizard Completed window appears when the installation has been completed successfully. Click Finish.
Test your OpenAccess SDK environment by establishing a connection between the OpenAccess SDK Client and the OpenAccess SDK Server. See Testing the ADO Client Installation for more information.
