Start the ODBC Administrator from the Progress DataDirect OpenAccess SDK 8.1 /Client for ODBC program group.
-
On the User DSN tab, click Add to create a new data source. A list of installed drivers appears. Select DataDirect OpenAccess SDK 8.1; then, click Finish.
-
The DataDirect OpenAccess SDK ODBC Driver Setup appears. Provide the following information:
Data Source Name: Type a name for the data source, for example, mydsn.
Service Host: Type the host name or the IP address where the OpenAccess service is running.
Service Port: Type the port number that you assigned during the OpenAccess SDK Server installation (see Installing OpenAccess SDK Server). For example, if you installed the OpenAccess SDK for C/C++ service at port 19986, type 19986.
Service Data Source: Type Default. This service data source has been set up automatically during the installation of your service.
-
Click Test Connect from the data source set up dialog box to establish a connection to the OpenAccess SDK service and data source. If successful, click OK and continue to Querying the Sample Data Source.
At the completion of this section, you have created an ODBC User DSN with the name you specified in the Data Source Name.
