For better performance and movement to an open-source developer platform, which allows you to build many types of applications, you can migrate your existing OpenEdge application from .NET Framework to .NET on Windows.

For more information, see Migrate from .NET Framework to .NET on Windows.

To migrate your .NET Framework project to .NET project, perform the following steps:

  1. On the Progress Developer Studio for OpenEdge main menu bar or the Project Explorer view context (right-click) menu, select File > New > OpenEdge project.

The New OpenEdge Project wizard appears and displays the Create an OpenEdge Project page.

  2. Create a .NET project. For more information, see Create a .NET project.
  3. Manually, copy the .NET Framework source files. For example, use the Windows file explorer to copy the source file from the .NET Framework project and paste it to the newly created .NET project.
