OpenEdge 12.8.4 provides a ChatGPT plugin called AssistAI to provide Coding Assistant functionality in the Developer Studio. After installation, it seamlessly integrates ChatGPT from OpenAI in Developer Studio. This integration helps you to leverage the generative AI capabilities from within the Developer Studio and enhance the overall coding experience.

In the ChatGPT view, you can prompt to request for creation of a code snippet or for review and enhancement of an existing code. You can insert the result from the generative AI chat response into the ABL Editor to complete the method or procedure. You can also use the Code Assistant feature to request ChatGPT to generate comments for a given ABL method or procedure and explain its purpose.

Note: The Software includes configuration to connect to generative artificial intelligence (AI). A separate license or subscription access to AI governed by the terms and conditions of a license agreement from AI licensor is required for use and access of AI capabilities integrated with the Software. You are responsible to comply with the terms of such license agreement for a valid use of AI. You acknowledge and accept that (i) Progress is not a party to the license agreement between You and AI licensor for AI use, (ii) Progress does not have any control over AI and its availability, and (iii) Progress disclaims any and all liabilities for any output, error, damages, loss, etc., or any other result of Your use of AI integrated with the Software.
