To install the AssistAI plugin, perform the following steps:

  1. Download and extract the AssistAI-ChatGPT-PDSOE-Plugin-<oe-version>.zip file from the Progress Electronic Software Download (ESD) center by selecting Progress® OpenEdge® <oe-version> (all platforms) and accepting the license agreement.
  2. Open the Developer Studio and navigate to Help > Install New Software. The Available Software window appears.
  3. To add a new repository, click Add.
  4. In the Add Repository dialog box, do the following:
    1. Name—Provide a name to the new repository for AI Coding Assistant with Developer Studio. For example, AssistAI_Repo.
    2. Location—Click Archive and select AssistAI-ChatGPT-PDSOE-plugin-<oe-version>.zip > com.github.gradusnikov.package.assistai-<<oe-version>>.zip from the location where you downloaded the plugin, as mentioned in Step 1.

    3. Click Add.

    The AssistAI plugin now appears in the Available Software window.

  5. To install the plugin, select the AssistAI checkbox and click Next.
  6. In the Install dialog box, select I accept the terms of the license agreement and click Finish to begin the plugin installation process.
  7. During the installation process, the Developer Studio asks for your consent to trust the plugin. In the Trust dialog box, do the following:
    1. Select Unsigned to provide your consent for trusting unsigned content of unknown origin.
    2. Select Always trust all content in the Always Trust Everything Confirmation dialog box that appears. Click Yes, I Accept the Risk.
    3. Click Trust Selected to complete the plugin installation process.
  8. To successfully complete the plugin installation process, click Restart Now.
  9. To verify the successful installation of the plugin, select Window > Show View > Other > AssistAI > ChatGPT View.
  10. Obtain an OpenAI API Key to enable the AI Coding Assistant with Developer Studio feature. For more information, see Enable AI Coding Assistant with Developer Studio.
