To install a specific set of OpenEdge products uniformly throughout multiple machines on your network, you can create an installation bundle. An installation bundle is a subset of the OpenEdge software image that contains the products for which you are licensed, and provides a convenient means to replicate an installation throughout your environment.

To create a custom installation bundle for Linux machines, complete the following steps:

  1. Open a command shell. Enter the proinst -g command and specify the OpenEdge software image location. The Welcome dialog box appears. Press Enter.
    For example:
    /users/abc/openedge/proinst -g
In the example, /users/abc/openedge/ is complete path of the directory that contains the software image.
Note: You must always provide the complete path of the directory where you have downloaded the software image. You cannot run proinst directly from either the directory where you have downloaded the software image, or from the target directory in which you are installing OpenEdge.
  2. In the Product Configuration Data dialog box, enter the serial number and control codes for each product you want to include in the new installation bundle. The serial number and control codes indicate the products that are to be selected for the installation bundle. Enter Ctrl+E when done.
  3. In the Done Configuration Data Confirmation dialog box, Enter Y to confirm.
  4. In the Bundle Location dialog box, specify the directory where you want to create the new installation bundle. The new installation bundle is saved to this location. Press Enter.
  5. In the Summary dialog box, Press Enter. A status message is displayed indicating that the bundle is being created. The Finish screen is displayed after the bundle is created. Press Enter to complete the process.
    The screen appears.
You can now run the OpenEdge installation from the new installation bundle location to install the selected products.
