Use Prompt for Passphrase (-Passphrase) to
open an encryption-enabled database that is configured for manual start, or to override the
autostart passphrase configuration.
Database utilities and servers indicate that they require a prompt for keystore authentication by adding Prompt for Passphrase (-Passphrase) to the command line. Prompt for Passphrase prompts for the passphrase. If you cannot successfully authenticate the keystore, you cannot open to the database.
After you enable HSM as a secondary authentication requirement for a TDE-enabled database, both passphrase and PIN are required to authenticate the keystore. For details, see Prompt for Pin (Pin).
For more information on the keystore passphrase, see Database keystore.
