Semaphore 5.6.1 is a minor update to the software and an update to the Semaphore 5.6.0 release.
Important: We scan the Semaphore binaries daily for reported vulnerabilities. For a list of current reported issues and our proposed action, see CVE issues.
Studio (5.6.1)
- Some external dependencies have been upgraded from 5.6.0.
Notes:
- If upgrading from versions prior to 5.6.0 We have replaced the underlying application server for the Studio application. This has lead to an architectural change to the backend of the Studio Server. This means that the process for managing access has changed see OAuth2 OpenID Authentication for details of how to carry out OAuth integration, and Form-based authentication (Quarkus) for the simpler form based authentication methods.
- If upgrading from versions prior to 5.6.0 The Publisher Plugin is no longer supplied as a separate component. It is now part of the Semaphore-Studio installation (the standalone publisher is still available as a separate installation)
- Semaphore Studio has been tested against Java 11 and Java 17 virtual machines.
Semaphore Administration
Important: With the addition of LDAP as an authentication mechanism, we have added a new parameter to the Studio configuration. If you are using OAuth for authentication, you will need to add to the studio-authentication.properties file the following parameter:
studio.auth.mechanism=OIDC
Important: We have re-architectured the Reconciliation Server. This means that its configuration is now done with property files. See How to configure the Reconciliation Server (Linux) and How to configure the Reconciliation Server (Linux) for details.

Stand-alone Linux Publisher (5.6.1)
Note: The following applies to the standalone publisher only, not the plugin.
- During the Linux installation you may see a spurious message about setting ACL permissions for the tomcat user. Please ignore these.
Knowledge Model Management (5.6.1)
- When downloading configuration or backup files, it is possible that the default Windows zip extractor will report the downloaded file as invalid. This is, however, likely to be due to long file paths in the zip file not being handled correctly by that extractor. An alternative (such as 7-Zip) should be able to correct extract these files.
Semaphore for SharePoint 2013/2016 Integration (4.0 r54942)
The following are known issues with this version of Semaphore for SharePoint 2013/2016:
- Use of custom hierarchical relationship types for synchronization of models may result in incorrect model information in the term store (“has narrower/has broader” hierarchical relationship synchronization works correctly)
- DE2394 - Classification Server version 4.2.0 won't work when adding in CS URL. An error “Version's parameters must be greater than or equal to zero. Parameter name: revision.” is being shown.
