Rolling Upgrade Process

Here are the steps in the rolling upgrade process:

Backup: Back up the databases on any host that you are going to upgrade. See Backing Up and Restoring a Database.

Preparation: Prepare any code or application that you may need to prior to the upgrade. See Interaction with Other MarkLogic Features.

Upgrade: Perform the actual upgrade. During the upgrade, MarkLogic Server disables the Admin Interface on each host in the cluster to prevent configuration changes.

Commit: Upgrade the security database to commit the upgrade to the entire cluster. This can be done through the Admin Interface or through the management REST API, JavaScript, or XQuery using Query Console.

Cleanup: Delete the installers.
