You can update an OpenEdge installation from Long Term Supported (LTS) or Innovation release or any earlier Incremental Update to a newer Incremental Update within the same LTS or Innovation release.

Each new Incremental Update includes only cumulative changes, that is, changes introduced in the earlier Updates are included in the current Update. These changes may include bug fixes and security patches.

Prerequisites

  • Download the required OpenEdge software image from the Progress Download Center, also known as Electronic Software Distribution (ESD).
  • Close all the OpenEdge applications or the processes because they can interfere with the installation or use files that the installer needs to complete the update.
