Before you install OpenEdge on a single machine or network, make sure that your environment meets the hardware and software requirements described in the OpenEdge 12 Platform Compatibility Guide on the Progress Content Portal. Refer to that document for supported platform, certification, and compatibility information, including the following:

  • System requirements
  • Java certification and considerations
  • Server compatibility
  • Supported OpenEdge clients
  • General connectivity and compatibility rules
  • Required third-party applications
  • Deprecated and de-supported features and functionality
Note: A supported Java SE Development Kit (JDK) must be installed on your machine prior to running the OpenEdge installation program. The JDK is not included with the OpenEdge software. See Install a supported JDK for more information.
