This package installs Flowmon Packet Investigator (FPI) on your Flowmon appliance.

Compatibility

  • This package is compatible with Flowmon version 13.1.0 or higher.
  • This package is compatible with Flowmon ADS version 13.1.0 or higher.
  • A compatible version is only required if packet capturing triggered by Flowmon ADS is needed.

Installation

For the automatic package download:

  1. Log in to the Configuration Center on your Flowmon appliance.
  2. Select the Versions tab.
  3. Click Update the Package List.
  4. If the FPI update package is available, Packet Investigator appears in the list.
  5. Click Install for the Packet Investigator package.
  6. Wait until a notification indicates that the update was successful.

Or, for the manual package download from the Progress Community Portal:

  1. Download the package from the Progress Community Portal. Do NOT unpack it.
  2. Log in to the Configuration Center on your Flowmon appliance.
  3. Select the Versions tab.
  4. Click Import Package and select the update file you downloaded in step 1.
  5. Wait until a notification indicates that the update was successful.

What's new

  • A new Flowmon Packet Investigator user interface is available as a feature preview in Dashboards and Reports.
  • The underlying PHP runtime, together with the Nette Framework and jQuery library used by FPI, has been updated to be compatible with Flowmon 13.1.0.
  • Security and bug fixes.

New Flowmon Packet Investigator user interface

A new Flowmon Packet Investigator user interface has been added in Dashboards and Reports as a feature preview. It works similarly to the existing interface, which remains available and is used by default. In the new interface, the table of recordings now also displays the size of the recording PCAP files.

01921340 Update/Installation On appliances migrated from an older Flowmon Packet Investigator version where the default recording group was named FTR instead of FPI, the FTR group remained separate from the FPI group after the update, potentially leaving two default recording groups on the appliance. The update process now renames the FTR group to FPI when no FPI group is already present, keeping existing recordings and quotas intact. Correct handling of an FTR default recording group during the update, preventing the group from being renamed or deleted and keeping the database and stored recordings consistent, was already introduced in Flowmon Packet Investigator 13.0.2.

Known issues

  • NTP traffic analysis can report a false positive event with incorrect server time settings.
  • Changes in timezone settings can cause failures when creating future packet captures. The workaround is to restart the FPI module after changing the timezone.
