The Flowmon Packet Investigator Probe can be installed on a dedicated Flowmon Probe appliance or on a Flowmon Collector virtual appliance with built-in Flowmon Probe functionality.

The probe's installation package can be downloaded from the Flowmon portal (https://portal.flowmon.com). After signing in, you will have access to all the packages you have purchased. The installation package can be found in Flowmon Packet Investigator (organized by version).

Installation process

  1. Download the Flowmon Packet Investigator Probe installation package, including the README file that contains a manual. To install the package, you must have administrative access to the Configuration Center module on your Flowmon Probe appliance.

  2. To install the package, follow the steps in the README file.

  3. Wait for a green pop-up message to appear, informing you that the installation process was successful. Do not shut down or restart the appliance during the installation process.

  4. After the installation process has successfully completed, new Packet Capture tabs will appear on the Monitoring Ports page.
