Although most of the settings of the Packet Investigator module are configured within the module itself (see Settings), the collector appliance has some settings that affect the behavior of the module.
Resource Manager
You can assign disk space (quota) for captured network data of individual Packet Investigator groups in the Configuration Center > Resource Manager screen. Group quotas are independent of each other and reaching the quota limit of one group does not affect the others. Note that you can configure quota values also in the Settings of the Packet Investigator module (see Settings).
User Management
Each Flowmon appliance has central user management for all the installed modules. It is located in the Configuration Center > System > Users tab.
You can configure roles to grant access to a specific Packet Investigator group. For each role, you can also define whether users may only view recordings within that group or create new recordings in addition to viewing them. Users with the admin or tenant admin roles have access to all Packet Investigator groups. They can start new recordings and configure all module settings without restriction.
Time Synchronization
The probe and collector appliances must have their time synchronized. The collector is used as a reference point that the probes synchronize with. This requires the Allow inbound NTP connections option to be enabled in Configuration Center > System > System > Time Zone.
