MOVEit Automation uses two distinct types of certificates, each serving a specific purpose:
  • Server Certificate

    This certificate is essential for internal operations. It secures communication between MOVEit Automation components and is required for encryption processes. It is configured in the MOVEit Automation Config utility under the General tab.

  • Web Admin Certificate

    This certificate is used specifically for the Web Admin interface, which is accessed via a browser. It ensures secure HTTPS communication for administrators managing the system. This certificate is associated with the Tomcat service that hosts the Web Admin interface

Key difference: While both certificates enhance security, the Server Certificate is for internal service communication and encryption, whereas the Web Admin Certificate secures the web-based administrative interface.
