Removing or Modifying the Installation

You can remove or modify your DataDirect Connect for ADO.NET installation through the Add/Remove Programs option in the Control Panel of the Windows Start menu.

Using the Remove Option

You can uninstall the product through the Add or Remove Programs option in the Control Panel of the Windows Start menu.

NOTE FOR VISUAL STUDIO 2015/2017 USERS: If you used the Visual Studio Help Integration tool to integrate the help into Visual Studio 2015 or Visual Studio 2017, uninstall the help before uninstalling the data provider. After opening Add/Remove Programs, select Progress DataDirect ADO.NET 4.3 Visual Studio 2015 Help or Progress DataDirect ADO.NET 4.3 Visual Studio 2017 Help and click the button to remove a program. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Using the Modify Option

You should use the Modify option to change your existing installation, if, for example:

• You have a server installation licensed for a specified number of processors installed and want to license additional processors.
• You have a licensed copy of one data provider installed and want to install an additional licensed data provider.
• You have an evaluation copy of DataDirect Connect for ADO.NET installed and you want to make it a licensed copy.
• You did not install the code examples and you decide you want to install them.

To modify your installation:

1. After opening Add/Remove Programs, select Progress DataDirect Connect for ADO.NET 4.3, and click the button to change a program. This displays the Welcome window for the DataDirect Connect for ADO.NET 4.3 Setup maintenance program. Click Next to display the Program Maintenance window.

2. Select Change on the Program Maintenance window. Then, click Next to continue. The License Information window appears.

3. On the License Information window, make any changes to your company name; then, perform one of the following actions:

   • If you are installing or modifying a licensed copy of the product, enter the serial number and key provided to you by Progress DataDirect.

   • If you are modifying an evaluation copy of the product, enter EVAL in the Serial field and Key field.

     Then, click Next to continue. If you entered the correct serial number and key, the Install Optional Components window is displayed. Otherwise, an error message is displayed. Click OK; you are returned to the License Information window.

4. Click Next. On the Install Optional Components window, you can select the check box to install the code examples. Each data provider has compiled C# examples that can be copied and pasted into your applications. The code examples come with a README text file that contains instructions for use.

5. Click Next to continue. The Ready to Modify the Program window appears. Click Install to begin the installation.

6. When the installation has finished, the Setup Completed window appears. Click Finish to exit Setup.
