Managed hosted platforms are organized into tenancies. Your organization becomes a tenant of the managed hosted platform.
The Progress Data Cloud Operations Team sets up your tenancy, working with your organization through the Progress Sales Team to provide the proper access to the products that your organization purchased. This kind of purchase is called a subscription.
Products to which an organization purchases a certain level of access through a managed hosted platform are called services. These services are organized into what Progress Data Cloud calls environments.
Environments
Each tenancy contains at least one environment:
-
Environments let your organization separate its tenancy into distinct areas.
-
Only the Progress Data Cloud Operations Team can set up or modify an environment's name and contents.
-
Common use cases for environments include:
- A separate environment for development, staging, and production.
- A separate environment for work related to a critical customer.
-
Many organizations use separate environments.
Services
Each environment contains at least one service:
-
An environment can contain more than one copy, or instance, of a service.
-
You can access a service through the Progress Data Cloud interface or through the service APIs.
