Using the Monitor Library

The Monitor Library displays all active, passive, and performance monitors currently configured for use in WhatsUp Gold. WhatsUp Gold includes a number of pre-configured monitors available to you out-of-the-box. You can configure additional monitors as needed to be added to the Monitor Library.
To access the Monitor Library:
- Go to the Index tab, then navigate to WhatsUp Gold > Configuration & Settings > Monitors.
- Use the monitor options at the top of the workspace as needed:
- Grouped by. A default filter that displays the monitors on the dashboard by type. If you remove this filter, monitors are listed in one large group. We recommend leaving this filter.
- Search box. Retrieves monitor type(s) that match user search criteria.
- Create New. Adds a new monitor type to the library.
Each entry on the monitor workspace contains the following:
- Options. Use the Options menu (
) to edit, copy, or delete the selected monitor type. - Name. The name of the monitor type.
- Description. An optional description that can be created to provide more information about the monitor type.
To add monitors:
- Click Create New. The Monitor Type menu appears.
- Click the type of monitor you want to create (Active Monitor, Passive Monitor, or Performance Monitor). The respective Select Monitor Type dialog appears.
- Select and configure a monitor type as needed. Configuration boxes vary depending upon the selected type. Refer to the following for individual monitor type descriptions and their specific configuration boxes.

- Click OK. The monitor is added to the Monitor Library.
