Upgrade process overview

The upgrade process itself consists of the following steps which are expanded in the following sections:

1. Connect as administrator to the machine to be upgraded (e.g. via RDP).

2. Backup the existing installation. See Backup your existing installation for details.

3. Document current configuration. See Document your current configuration for details.

4. Stop your Semaphore software services. See for Stop running your Semaphore services details.

5. Un-Install the old Semaphore software. See Un-install the existing Semaphore components for details.

6. Install the new Semaphore software. See Install the new Semaphore software for details.

7. Configure the upgraded Semaphore installation. Note that any installation-specific publisher configuration might require assistance. See Configure the new Semaphore software installation for details.

8. Restart your Semaphore services. See Starting and stopping services for details.
