Verify that your environment meets the requirements listed in the following table before you configure the driver for Kerberos authentication.

Note: The domain controller must administer both the database server and the client.
Table 1. Kerberos Authentication Requirements for the SQL Server Driver
Component Requirements
Database server The database server must be running one of the following databases:
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2000
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition (64-bit) Service Pack 2 or higher
Kerberos server The Kerberos server is the machine where the user IDs for authentication are administered. The Kerberos server is also the location of the Kerberos KDC. Network authentication must be provided by Windows Active Directory on one of the following operating systems:
  • Windows Server 2003 or higher
  • Windows 2000 Server Service Pack 3 or higher
Client Java SE 5 or higher must be installed.
