A dedicated application is installed with WhatsUp Gold which allows you to manage your Master Secret Key when moving your WhatsUp Gold instance from one server to another. This application can be found in the following location on your WhatsUp Gold server: <WhatsUp Gold installation drive>:\Program Files (x86)\Ipswitch\WhatsUp\KeyManager.exe. Right-click the filename, then select Run as administrator to launch the Key Manager application.

To export the Master Secret Key from the existing WhatsUp Gold server for use with a new WhatsUp Gold installation, select the Export Master Secret Key radio button, then click Export Key. Enter your WhatsUp Gold admin username and password, then click OK to display the actual Master Secret Key. Copy the key and save it in a secure location.

Important: The Key Manager application also has an Import Master Secret Key option which can be used to import an existing Master Secret Key to a new WhatsUp Gold installation. However, Progress strongly recommends entering an existing Master Secret Key when running the WhatsUp Gold installer on the new server rather than importing it after WhatsUp Gold installation is complete. In the unlikely scenario in which this option is needed, please note that the wug.dat file found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Ipswitch\WhatsUp\Data must be removed or renamed prior to Master Secret Key import and the WhatsUp Gold server must be restarted after Master Secret Key import.
