  1. The first backup of a large Flowmon Collector appliance should always be performed manually. All subsequent backups can be scheduled. When working with large amounts of data, the first backup may take a long time, depending on:
  • Flowmon Collector load

  • Network bandwidth to External Data Storage, and

  • External Data Storage performance.

  1. The shortest reasonable backup period is one day, and it should be configured to run periodically some time after midnight, in the early hours of the following day.

  2. Do not schedule backups immediately after midnight because this may interfere with various periodic tasks performed by Flowmon Collector appliances. Choosing, for example, 2:00 AM is less likely to interfere with or impact collector performance in a negative way.
