Before you install PAS for OpenEdge on a Windows machine, make sure that you:
- Have a supported Windows environment.
- Have administrator rights on the system.
- Download the Windows installer executable (.exe) and run it to start the PAS for OpenEdge Installation wizard.
- On the Introduction page, click Next.
- On the Installation Directory Configuration page, choose the directory where you want to install PAS for OpenEdge, and then click Next. The default directory is C:/Progress/pas.
- On the Java Configuration page, choose the Java home directory to use
with PAS for OpenEdge, and then click Next.
If the
JAVA_HOMEenvironment variable is already set, then the installer automatically uses that value. However, you can override it by selecting a different Java home directory. - Enter the HTTP, HTTPS, and shutdown ports for the server configuration and then click Next. The default ports are 8810, 8811, and 8812, respectively.
- On the Pre‑Installation Summary page, review the installation details, and then click Install.
- When the installation completes, click Done to close the wizard.
- Go to the installation directory and confirm that the new PAS for OpenEdge directories and files have been created successfully.
Note: Installing PAS for OpenEdge does not update your existing previous
generation PAS for OpenEdge instances. Instances created with previous generations
PAS for OpenEdge must be migrated so they work with PAS for OpenEdge. For complete
steps, see Migrate existing instances between previous generation PAS for OpenEdge and PAS for OpenEdge 3.0.
