Before you start updating, ensure that you completed all the prerequisites. For details, see Update the Progress OpenEdge JMS Adapter.

To update the OpenEdge Java Message Service (JMS) Adapter on UNIX or Linux, perform the following steps:

  1. Open the command-line interface.
  2. Navigate to the parent directory of the folder where you have downloaded the software image and type the following command: 
    ./path/proinst

    where ./path represents the folder that contains the downloaded software image.

    Note: You cannot run proinst from the folder where you have downloaded the software image or from the target folder in which you are updating OpenEdge JMS Adapter.
  3. In the Would you like to apply the update to an existing installation? dialog box, press Y.
  4. In the Welcome dialog box, press ENTER after verifying that all the OpenEdge applications or processes are closed.
  5. In the Please enter the full path to the OpenEdge installation dialog box, type the path to the existing OpenEdge JMS adapter installation and press ENTER.
  6. If you want to backup the existing OpenEdge JMS adapter files, click Y in the Question: Backup Existing Files dialog box.
  7. In the Update Install Summary dialog box, press ENTER.
  8. In the Installation of OpenEdge update is complete dialog box, press ENTER. The OpenEdge JMS Adapter update is successfully completed.
