The OpenEdge Java Message Service (JMS) Adapter supports two types of installations:
  • Standalone installation
  • Add as a product to the existing OpenEdge installation

Before installing the OpenEdge JMS Adapter, ensure that you have installed correct Java Development Kit (JDK) version on your system. For information about JDK requirements, see "Progress OpenEdge Adapters" in the OpenEdge 12 Platform Compatibility Guide.

To install the OpenEdge JMS Adapter or add it as a product to the existing OpenEdge installation on Windows, download the OpenEdge JMS Adapter software image from the Progress Software Download Center, and launch the interactive installation program. The software is provided in a ZIP fie. You must extract the contents of the ZIP file to your machine.

The Linux version of the OpenEdge JMS Adapter also offers an interactive installation utility. The software download is provided in a TAR (.tar.gz) file. You need to extract its contents to your system.

Note that during installation, you can optionally capture a response.ini file. You can use the response.ini file to create a silent installation script, which automates the installation of the OpenEdge JMS Adapter across a network.

Note: Download the .jar files from the respective JMS vendor that you are using. Export a class path if you are connecting to the JMS via a broker. You need to update the JavaTools.properties file if you are connecting via a client.
