Install the OpenEdge JMS adapter on UNIX or Linux

The OpenEdge JMS installation program on UNIX or Linux machines present a series of dialog boxes in which you enter your choices in each dialog box and advance at your own pace. The specific controls you use to advance to the next dialog box or return to a previous dialog box are identified on each dialog box. Select a menu option using the TAB key or the keys that are mentioned in each selection on the dialog box.
You can access the online help according to the method identified on each dialog box. Scroll in the help window to view all of the dialog box details. For information about planning your installation, see Before you Install.
- Close all applications.
Running applications or tasks may interfere with the installation because they could use files that OpenEdge needs to complete the installation. Stop any processes that are running, and close any files that are located in the same directory where you want to install the OpenEdge JMS adapter.
- Log in as
root. If you do not know the root password for your machine, check with your system administrator. - To start the installation, enter the following
command:
./path/proinstNote: In the preceding command,pathrepresents the directory that contains the downloaded JMS adapter software image. You cannot runproinstfrom either the directory where you downloaded the OpenEdge JMS adapter software image or from the target directory in which you are installing the OpenEdge JMS adapter. - Read the information in the Welcome dialog box, verify that all the other applications are
closed, and press ENTER.

- In the Product Configuration
Data dialog box, enter the company name, serial number, and
control number for the OpenEdge JMS adapter. When you finish entering the
license information, press CTRL + E to continue.

- In the JavaHome Pathname dialog
box, enter the the location of the JDK installation for the JavaHome and press
ENTER.

Note: Ensure that you have the correct JDK version installed. Otherwise, an error message is displayed, and you cannot proceed with the installation. For information about the JDK requirements on each supported platform, see the OpenEdge 12 Platform Compatibility Guide. - In the Install Type and
Destination dialog box, select one of the options, press TAB to
highlight Continue with Installation,
and then press ENTER.

For custom installations, Progress recommends that you install all recommended products. If you do not install all the recommended products, then the products you chose to install may not function as expected.
Specify the paths for the OpenEdge JMS adapter destination and working directories in the
Destination pathnameandWorking Dir pathname,respectively.The working directory contains your OpenEdge JMS adapter database and application files, and is the directory where the OpenEdge JMS adapter runs. The working directory cannot be same as the destination directory.
If the installation program prompts you to specify whether you want to select the SQL Server database engine to support queries written in SQL, then press the TAB key to highlight Continue with Install, and then press ENTER.
- In the Attention dialog
box, press ENTER.

- In the Language Selection dialog
box, select English - American as the
language to be used for OpenEdge error and informational messages. Press the TAB
key to highlight Make Default, and then
press ENTER. Now, press the TAB key to highlight Continue with Installation, and then press ENTER.

Note: You can select only English-American as a default language during the installation. - In the International
Settings dialog box, choose the settings for your character set,
date, and number format in OpenEdge software. Details about the information
required for this dialog box are available from online help. Press the TAB key
to highlight Continue with Installation,
and then press ENTER.

- In the Complete
Installation dialog box, review the installation options that
you chose. Press N to return to the previous dialog box to make any changes. If
you are satisfied with your choices, then press Y.

- In the Copy Scripts
dialog box, confirm whether you want to copy the OpenEdge JMS adapter product
scripts and program modules to the default location /usr/bin. Press Y or N to continue.

Note: If you are maintaining two versions of OpenEdge on the same machine, press N to avoid overwriting files. - When the installation is complete, a message is displayed.
Press the TAB key to highlight the End the OpenEdge
Installation, and press ENTER to exit the installation
process.
